About the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 2038

  • IBEW Local 2038 is based in Regina, Saskatchewan Canada at 1920 McAra Street.
  • Local 2038 primarily represents construction electricians, both journeyed and apprenticing. We also represent Instrument mechanics, Welders and Boom truck operators also possessing an electrical journeyperson license.
  • Local 2038 has a membership of just over 400 men and women. There is no disparity in wage rates across gender and other social lines
  • Including travelling members from across the country, Local 2038 manpower peaked at approximately 1500 working members in 2011.
  • IBEW members have the opportunity (when work is slow at home) to take travel calls to other areas where work is currently booming.
  • All work done by Local 2038 members is done under the protection of a collective bargaining agreement that is normally re-negotiated every 3 years.
  • Some of our primary negotiated clauses include (but are not limited to) 1) Employee/Employer grievance procedure 2) Negotiated annual pay raises 3) Great Pension and Health/Welfare package 4) Member supported training (Arc Flash, Fall Arrest, Quality Assurance/Control and many others) 5) Journeyperson to Apprentice ratios 6) Supervision to worker ratios 7) Limited tool list 8) Safe work practice and many more.
  • IBEW members are bound by our constitution and local bylaws as well as the locals Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Drug and Alcohol policy, Harassment policy and internal discipline procedure.
  • Local 2038 strives to provide the best possible manpower product for your large or small project. Please feel free to contact us if you are an Electrician or want to become one, if you are interested in becoming signatory to any of our agreements (as a contractor), if you are looking for better pay and pension or if your just not happy where you work now!

Local 2038 is active in a number of labour and community oriented efforts. We presently work with or volunteer time and funding to: local high schools, Habitat for Humanity, Helmets to Hardhats (H2H), RDIEC, Skills Saskatchewan, Skills Canada, GETT Camp, Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, Telemiracle, the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (SFL), the Saskatchewan Provincial Building Trades Council, the Regina RedSox, Regina Little League, the Street Culture Kids Project, and many others.
